#EndBadGovernance protest continues in Abuja
In Abuja, Nigeria’s capital, the #EndBadGovernance protesters have returned to the streets on the final day of their planned demonstrations. The protest, which had seen a temporary halt as normalcy was restored in the city, resumed with renewed vigour.
Participants were seen carrying placards with slogans such as “End Bad Governance in Nigeria,” “Nigerians Are Tired of Bad Leaders,” and “Return Fuel Subsidy.”
This marks the culmination of a 10-day nationwide campaign organised by the Take It Back Movement (TIB) and other collaborating groups.
Sanyaolu Juwon, the National Coordinator of TIB, announced that the August 10 protest was set to be a one-million-man march across all 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).
“This event signifies a crucial milestone in our nationwide #EndBadGovernanceInNigeria campaign, which commenced on August 1, 2024. What began as a 10-day protest has expanded into a broad-based movement drawing support from across Nigeria and abroad,” Juwon stated.

Despite a nationwide appeal by President Bola Tinubu urging protesters to cease their activities and allow his administration more time to address issues, the protests have persisted in various cities including Abuja, Rivers, Lagos, and other locations.
The demonstrations, while marred by some criminal elements, have seen significant participation, particularly in northern states.
