Ex-convict re-arrested for attempted murder of employer
An ex-convict named Yusuf Abdulsalam was arrested by the Osun State Police Command for attempting to kill his former boss after being released from prison.
According to reports, Yusuf had been convicted and imprisoned for stealing his employer’s phone accessories worth N1.5 million in November 2021 while working as a night guard in Ikirun, the Headquarters of Ifelodun Local Government.
After serving his jail term, Yusuf allegedly scaled the fence of his former boss’s residence in the Odo-Ofin area of Ikirun around 8:30 pm and attempted to kill her. However, some people returning from the mosque saw him and raised the alarm.
The boss, identified as Abimbola, called the hunters who assisted in arresting Yusuf. “They found one cutlass, three knives, and many charms on him. He was then handed over to the police in Ikirun”, she said.
Yemisi Opalola, the spokesperson for the Osun State Police Command, confirmed the arrest, saying that investigations are ongoing over the incident.
“Yusuf will be re-arraigned in court after the completion of the investigation”, she added.
