Father kills 8-year-old son for misplacing sewing thread

A man in Lagos has poured a keg of petrol on his 8-year-old son for misplacing his sewing thread.

According to reports, the incident occurred on Tuesday around 10:00 a.m, when the father was about to use his sewing thread and discover that the minor had misplaced it.

The suspect allegedly became enraged and doused the child with Premium Motor Spirit, commonly known as petrol.

It was gathered that the petrol took a bad turn on the son and he began to vomit white substances.

The suspect reportedly gave his son some oil to drink so as to neutralise the pain of the petrol on his body.

The boy reportedly lost consciousness and was rushed to a nearby hospital where he was confirmed dead on arrival by doctors.

The father has since been arrested by operatives of the Lagos State Police Command.

Confirming the incident to newsmen, the spokesperson of the command, SP Benjamin Hundeyin, said an autopsy would be carried out on the deceased, while his father (the suspect) will be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department in Yaba for further investigation.
