Financial Difficulties: Police stop 27-year-old man from committing suicide

The Gombe State Police Command has rescued a 27-year-old man, Mohammed Bello, who climbed an MTN mast in Gombe Local Government Area to commit suicide.

According to the Command’s Public Relations Officer, DSP Buhari Abdullahi, officers were swiftly dispatched after receiving a distress call.

Upon arrival, they found Bello, who claimed he was being pursued by security agencies over debts owed to two creditors.

He expressed that he preferred to end his life rather than face the consequences of his financial struggles.

The situation was resolved with the help of Katukan Gombe, a respected community leader, who convinced Bello to climb down after assuring him that his debts would be settled. Bello agreed and safely descended from the mast.

He was taken into police custody, where his statement was recorded. The police commended the officers’ quick response and the crucial role of community leaders in resolving the situation peacefully.
