Former minister Maku speaks out after gunmen attack his residence

In a distressing incident on Saturday night, unidentified gunmen stormed the home of former Minister of Information, Mr. Labaran Maku, in Nasarawa state. The assault resulted in injuries to four security personnel, leaving the community on edge.

Describing the harrowing incident, an injured security personnel revealed, “The criminals forced their way into the residence and started shooting sporadically, injuring four of us. They arrived as a mob, communicating in Hausa and aggressively banging on the main gate. When I refused to open the gate as I didn’t recognize them, they resorted to shooting and brazenly jumped over the fence into the compound.”

Expressing his deep concerns over the deteriorating security situation, Maku lamented, “This marks the third time that criminals have targeted my residence and relatives. Last month, they invaded my father’s compound, kidnapping three of my family members. And two years ago, they tragically took the lives of my elder brother’s two children in Gudi community.”

Concerned about the overall state of affairs, Maku emphasized, “What happened today shows clearly that our state is under siege.”

Governor Abdullahi Sule reacted swiftly, condemning the attack and issuing a directive to the security agencies to apprehend the culprits. “We have adopted modalities to tackle all forms of insecurity in the state,” affirmed Mr. Peter Ahemba, the governor’s Senior Special Assistant (SSA) on Public Affairs, assuring the residents of Nasarawa that comprehensive measures were being implemented.
