Governor’s sister succumbs to gunshot injuries from police escort
Atsi Kefas, the sister of Taraba State Governor Agbu Kefas, has tragically lost her life after sustaining gunshot injuries from a police escort during a harrowing incident involving banditry.
The unfortunate incident occurred last Thursday on Kente Road in the Wukari Local Government Area of Taraba State, where Atsi and the governor’s mother, Jumai Kefas, were travelling.

Their vehicle was ambushed by gunmen, and in the ensuing chaos, a police officer assigned to protect the family accidentally shot Atsi while responding to the attackers.
Following the shooting, reports confirm that Atsi was urgently rushed to a hospital in Abuja for medical attention but sadly, she succumbed to her injuries shortly thereafter.
A source close to the family confirmed her death, stating, “She passed away last night after battling her injuries. The governor and his family have yet to issue a formal statement, but our thoughts are with them during this incredibly difficult time.”
Another source confirming the death said, “Yes, the governor’s younger sister, who was shot during the bandit attack while traveling to Abuja, has sadly passed away.”
