Gunmen abduct couple, one other in Edo

A group of unknown gunmen kidnapped a couple and one other person around 7 pm on Sunday, September 30, along the Fugar-Ekperi road while they were returning from an event.

Confirming the incident in a statement to newsmen, SP Moses Yamu, the Public Relations Officer of the Edo State Police Command, stated that the police are doing everything possible to secure the victims’ release.

“The police are on the trail of the kidnappers and will soon effect the release of the victim and arrest the perpetrators”, he said.

He further stated that one of the victims escaped from the kidnappers while being moved from one location to another, leaving the couple behind in the kidnappers’ den.

A source, who wished to remain anonymous, informed newsmen that local hunters are currently searching the bush in an effort to rescue the victims.
