Unidentified gunmen in the early hours of Sunday invaded Ka-Bori community in Khana Local Government Area of Rivers State, shooting two people dead and injuring another.

An eyewitness said the victims were a woman and a man while the third person, a woman, sustained gunshot wounds and is in hospital.

According to the eyewitness, the people of Kono in Boue community are responsible for the attack.

He stated that the Police and other security agencies have moved into the community to restore normalcy and pointed out that no arrest has been made yet.

A resident of Bori town who pleaded anonymity because of the tense security situation in the area said the residents heard gunshots around Ka-Bori communities close to Bori town at about 6 am, saying that the shooting lasted for 35 minutes.

In the meantime, the Public Relations Officer of Kono/Boue Community Development Committee, Golden Nwibakpo, has denied the allegation that the people of his community were behind the attack.

Nwibakpo said his community has been deserted saying that his people are roaming about Bori and do not have the time for such an attack.

On August 23, three persons were killed in Kono/Boue community.

When contacted, the Rivers State Police Command Public Relation Officer, SP Nnamdi Omoni promised to release a statement on the incident soon.
