Amina Danzarga was reported missing on Friday 12 March 2021, only two days before her wedding.
She was last seen by her family members when she left her house at Koki Quarters in Kano for school on Friday evening.
Amina is a student of the Federal College of Education, Kano State. The whereabouts of the bride-to-be are still unknown five days after she went missing.
In a report by Daily Trust, the family members believe she was kidnapped on her way back from Dorayi, where she visited her friend and accidentally dropped her exam card.
It was also reported that there was no evidence of her being kidnapped, apart from two text messages earlier received from her mobile line. The family had not received any call from the girl or her abductors since then.
“Hours after she was declared missing, we received two different text messages: the first one was a threat not to call the girl’s number again and the second one was sent to her younger brother requesting to put her in their prayers as the other lady, who she was allegedly kidnapped with, had been killed”, says Amina’s uncle, Gwani Yahuza.
“We have not received any message again as her number is not going through. We are only praying to Allah Almighty to reveal anyone that has a hand in this kidnapping,” he said.
Danzarga family also debunked the rumour that their daughter might have arranged the act because she was not interested in the marriage.
Umar Hassan, her fiancé, who was still in shock, also cleared the rumours that his fiancée did not flee to avoid marrying him.
Amina’s aunty, Hajiya Hajara Anas said “She really loves her fiancé. Throughout last week, she was in my house for Gyaran Jikin (traditional body beautification). I took her to my neighbour who does it in Kofar Mazugal”.
“You know a girl who doesn’t want the marriage or does not love the fiancé would not do this just for marriage sake,” she added.
