How toddler died 5 days after release from kidnappers den

A toddler that was kidnapped with her mother and 29 others has died five days after she was released from the bandit’s captivity.

The toddler, Ewhalshoh Mandela Mairabo, her mother, and 29 other persons were abducted after bandits attacked Dogon-noma in Maro Ward, Kajuru Local Government Area of Kaduna State, on May 2022.

Daily Post reports that after many negotiations with bandits, the victims’ families were forced to pay N5 million and two motorcycles as ransom before they could regain their freedom.

A family source said that they paid the ransom, and their sister and her daughter were released on August 30, 2022, but five days after their release, the young toddler died, probably from the unfavourable conditions in the kidnapper’s den.

The source also said a victim in captivity was brutally murdered by the criminals.

According to a member of the community, Istifanus Egoh Destinity, the toddler died on Sunday, September 4, 2022, he said her mother and other victims are still receiving treatment in the hospital.
