Kano government reclaims university land, cancels illegal allocations

Story by Tawheed Yakub

The Kano State Government has revoked all illegal land allocations made on the property belonging to a university in the Northwest region of the state.

Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf approved the decision after investigations revealed that portions of the university’s land were unlawfully allocated to private individuals and developers. The move, according to the government, is aimed at protecting public assets and preserving land meant strictly for educational purposes.

State officials said affected allottees have been directed to vacate the land, adding that any structures erected without proper authorization would be reviewed in line with existing laws.

The government reaffirmed its commitment to due process, transparency, and the protection of institutions of learning, warning that similar actions would be taken against illegal allocations across the state.
