Kelechi Iheanacho’s Leicester City trash Tottenham Hotspur 4-1

Story from Kenneth AFOR, LAGOS

Saturday’s English Premier League (EPL) fixture between Leicester City and Tottenham Hotspur might be the biggest win following a 4-1 trashing on Spurs at the King Power Stadium.

Nigeria’s Kelechi Iheanacho was on goal for the Foxes as well as an assist.

Spurs took an early lead in the 14th minute courtesy Rodrigo Bentancur whose goal was affirmed by the Video Assistant Referee (VAR).

Leicester who seemed to be on the road to recovery after four consecutive EPL defeats leveled the game to 1-1 courtesy Nampalys Mendy who latched onto the loose ball with conviction and unleashes a thunderbolt into the back of the net.

Leicester continued with their brilliance upfront which paid off two minutes after the leveler as James Maddison put his team on the lead in the 25th minute.

Iheanacho delivered the third goal for the Foxes with his left foot and curled a lovely strike around both the defender and goalkeeper to make it 3-1 just before half-time.

The VAR came to rescue Spurs when Leicester’s Harvey Barnes was one-on-one with Spurs’ goalkeeper, Fraser Forster before the goal was disallowed after a VAR review.

Spurs who appeared loosed anytime they had possession were punished in the 81st minutes after Barnes finally found the back of the net to make it 4-1.

Elsewhere, Arsenal dropped two points after pulling a 1-1 draw with Brentford at the Emirates Stadium giving Manchester City the chance to close gap if they record a victory over Aston Villa on Sunday at the Etihad Stadium.

Also, Crystal Palace shared the spoil with Brighton and Hove Albion which ended 1-1.

Earlier on, Fulham secured a 2-0 victory over Nottingham Forest to climb to seventh with 35 points on the log.
