Kidnapped NCoS officer dies after brutal torture, ransom payment

Story from Saleh INUWA, Kano

Malam Aminu Mutumin Kirki, an officer of the Nigerian Correctional Service (NCoS) in Katsina, has tragically passed away after being released from captivity by bandits.

Malam Ibrahim Bature, who shared the news on Facebook, revealed that the deceased was kidnapped during the first week of Ramadan and released after a substantial ransom was paid.

The officer endured torture at the hands of his abductors while held captive in the forest.

Despite being hospitalized following his release, his condition deteriorated, and he sadly succumbed on Sunday, May 7, 2023.

“He was kidnapped during the first week of Ramadan and subjected to brutal torture by the bandits. They extorted large sums of money twice before eventually setting him free. He had been under medical care since his release, about a week after the Sallah celebration.

“But later, he died as a result of the trauma, this and many other cases are among the challenges facing the incoming government of Nigeria. I pray our leaders should end this menace that has been traumatizing many families and affecting our economy”, Bature wrote.
