Lagos Assembly impeaches Speaker Obasa
Members of the Lagos State House of Assembly have impeached Speaker Mudashiru Obasa, citing multiple statutory and financial infractions.
Following his removal, Obasa was replaced by his deputy, Mojisola Meranda, who represents Apapa Constituency 1 and is a former chief whip of the house.
Mojeed Fatai has been appointed as the new Deputy Speaker.
Obasa has faced a series of controversies, particularly related to his financial dealings.
His impeachment comes just a month after he was accused of spending ₦17 billion on the construction of a gate leading to the assembly.
