Pictures: Major road projects, other developments under Gov. Buni in 2024 – Commissioner Wakil Duddaye

Yobe State Ministry of Works, under the leadership of its Commissioner, Engineer Umar Wakil Duddaye, has recorded tremendous achievements in infrastructural development and other services in the year under review.

The Commissioner, who highlighted some of the achievements, revealed that the administration of Governor Mai Mala Buni has demonstrated exceptional commitment to the state’s growth, earning widespread acclaim from its citizens.

He said the ministry has completed some projects like the Damaturu-Kalallawa Dual Carriageway, a 25-kilometre road constructed at the cost of ₦1,519,787.27, Jajimaji-Karasuwa Road; a vital road connecting Jajimaji to Karasuwa, constructed for ₦2,025,349,864.95.

According to him, other projects are the Chumbusko-Tagali Road; a 10-kilometre road constructed for ₦3,372,110,570.75, and the Damagum Town Roads and Drainage.

Others include roads and drainage systems constructed in Damagum town, Fune LGA, for ₦530,362,211.96, Potiskum town roads and drainage, 2.6 kilometres of roads and drainage systems constructed in Potiskum town for ₦582,939,420.91.

Also mentioned are the Jajimaji-Karasuwa Road and Drainage, 2.3 kilometres of road and drainage systems constructed in Jajimaji, Karasuwa LGA, at the cost of ₦788,087,605,52, rehabilitation of the road from Biriri to Babbangida along Damaturu road to Gashua road in Tarmuwa LGA, at the cost of ₦98,600,000.00.

He said, “Rehabilitation of the road from Katarko to Goniri, including stratification, earthworks, and construction of culverts in Gujba LGA for ₦62,814,252.50.

“Repairs carried out on the road from Buni Yadi to Buni Gari in Gujba LGA for ₦69,853,752.48.

“Earthworks constructed to approach Kayayya bridge in Geidam LGA for ₦294,901,307.31. Kayayya Bridge Triple Box Culvert: A triple box culvert was constructed at Kayayya Bridge in Geidam LGA, for ₦32,854,054.70.

“Bukar Abba Ibrahim Estate Entrance: Asphalting of the entrance to Bukar Abba Ibrahim Estate along Potiskum road, for ₦93,121,151.75.

He further stated that the ministry is currently working on projects such as the rehabilitation of the road from Geidam to Bukarti for ₦1,149,115,135.94, rehabilitation of Kanamma junction in Yunusari LGA, for ₦2,635,696,348.32 and construction of the road from Nguru to Balanguwa, for ₦1,074,014,000.

“Construction of a 25.5-kilometre earth road from Gashua to Masaba, for ₦4,461,806,746.76, construction of a 22.5-kilometre road from Fika to Maluri in Fika LGA, for ₦2,244,186,388.35, construction of the road from Kukuri to Chukuriwa up to Dawasa in Nangere LGA, for ₦1,245,440,640.00.

“Construction of the Damaturu city gate to the capital city, for ₦860,386,655.27, construction of 4.2 kilometres of roads and 8.4 kilometres of line drains in Potiskum town, for ₦1,181,422,495.56 and the construction of a 4-kilometre road from Nguru highway to Karasuwa”.

Engineer Umar Duddaye commended Governor Mai Mala Buni for the support which enabled the success of the ministry in the outgoing year 2024.
