NDLEA apprehends drug lord trying to make courier ingest 93 pellets of cocaine in Lagos hotel

In a commendable operation, the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) successfully arrested Charles Uwagbale, a notorious drug kingpin known for orchestrating the trafficking of Class A drugs to Europe, with a specific focus on Italy.

The arrest occurred late on Friday, July 21st, when NDLEA operatives raided Uwagbale’s hotel room in the Okota area of Lagos State. Their timely intervention prevented a courier, Uju Dominic, from ingesting 93 pellets of cocaine intended for distribution in Italy.

Femi Babafemi, the agency’s spokesperson, revealed that Uwagbale, 48, had recruited Dominic, 35, from his base in Italy.

The deal involved Dominic traveling to Nigeria, ingesting 100 pellets of cocaine on July 21st, and returning to Italy on July 22nd.

However, the plan was derailed when NDLEA operatives acted upon credible intelligence and apprehended the duo at the Golden Heaven Hotel on Enoma Street in Okota at 11:45 pm on Friday.

The operatives seized a total of 1.427kg of cocaine wraps, effectively preventing their intended distribution.

Notably, this arrest follows another successful operation by the Lagos State Command of the NDLEA on July 20th, where they recovered 37.5kg of cannabis from a suspect’s home in the Mushin area.

This significant achievement showcases the commitment and dedication of the NDLEA in combatting drug trafficking and upholding the law.

Their actions underscore the importance of collective efforts to protect society from the destructive influence of drugs.
