NEMA brings back 13 Nigerian students stranded in Saudi Arabia from Sudan
The National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) is facilitating the return of 13 Nigerian students who sought refuge in Saudi Arabia after fleeing the war in Sudan.
According to reports, the students are scheduled to depart from Jeddah on Wednesday aboard Qatar Airways and are expected to arrive at Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport in Abuja on Thursday.
The 13 Nigerian students who will be returning home on Friday are Mannira Buniya, Hadiza Idi, Naima Mamuda, Hindatu Salmanu, Aminu Ibrahim, Muntari, Aliya Rabbilu, Muhammad Zubairu, Aisha Sani, Asmau Adamu Dandada, Abdulkadir Lawan Gambo, Suleiman Sani Idris, and Mubarak Zakariya.

Ezekiel Manzo, the spokesperson for NEMA, stated in a press release that “the return of the 13 Nigerian students from Saudi Arabia is part of the ongoing efforts by the federal government, through NEMA and other relevant agencies, to evacuate stranded Nigerian citizens from war-torn Sudan. These students fled their home country using boats across the Red Sea and sought assistance from the Nigerian government to be repatriated.”
He further explained that the Nigerian Mission in Saudi Arabia had profiled the students and made arrangements for their safe return in accordance with NEMA’s mandate.
Recall that NEMA recently coordinated the evacuation of a total of 2,518 stranded Nigerian citizens in Sudan, who were airlifted from Port Sudan and Aswan, Egypt, under the direction of the federal government.
