Pastor strangles pregnant wife to death for ritual purposes

A pastor identified as Abiodun Sunday Oluwadare, also known as Araina, has been arrested by the police in Ekiti State for allegedly killing his pregnant wife, Tosin Oluwadare.

The incident occurred in Ido-Ile, Ekiti West Local Government Area of the state.
According to reports, the pastor strangled his wife to death for ritual purposes at around 9pm on November 19, 2023.

The suspect, who was once a herbalist, was posted to a Christ Apostolic Church in Ori-Oke, Ido Mountain, Ekiti West, where he was previously expelled for allegedly kidnapping a child.

Upon discovering his sister’s lifeless body, Samuel Ibironke, Tosin’s step-brother, revealed that the suspect had called his wife, who is a health worker, to come and assist him. However, upon arriving at the scene, she discovered that Tosin had been strangled to death by the pastor.

The traditional ruler of the community, Oba Aderemi Obaleye, condemned the killing and urged the authorities to investigate the matter and bring the culprit to justice.

He also expressed concern about the potential for violence in the aftermath of the incident, as youths in the area protested against the accused pastor.
