Police arrest paedophile as pregnant 13-year-old dies of abortion in Akwa Ibom
Operatives of the Akwa Ibom State Police Command have arrested a paedophile identified as Sunday Sampson, the principal suspect alleged to have impregnated a 13-year-old girl, who died during the abortion process.
The Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), SP Odiko Macdon, while briefing journalists in Uyo, the state capital, said the suspect was apprehended by men of the Nsit Ubium Local Government Area Division.

He said: “The suspect impregnated a 13-year-old girl and secretly procured an abortion for her, and she died in the process. The Commissioner of Police (CP), Olatoye Durosinmi, is shocked by the sad development and has ordered the matter to be transferred to the homicide section for discreet investigation.”
The CP, according to him, has warned parents to “create time and pay attention to the whereabouts and behaviours of their children, in order to prevent sexual abuses and other social vices.”
