Police in Abuja arrest armed robbery suspect, recover stolen car, weapons

The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command made a significant breakthrough on Saturday, 17th August 2024, when they apprehended an armed robbery suspect and recovered a stolen vehicle along with dangerous weapons in Abuja.

Acting on a tip-off about a stolen Toyota Corolla with registration number ABC 258 LD, which had been snatched at gunpoint on 2nd May 2024 along the Kuje-Airport road, the police swiftly responded.

Utilizing digital intelligence, the operatives tracked the vehicle to Ifego Guest Inn in Jabi, where it was found in the possession of one Michael Uke.

According to a statement by the Command’s spokesperson, SP Josephine Adeh, the suspect had altered the vehicle’s registration number to AGD 146 JP.

During the search, the police recovered various items from the suspect, including a POS machine, a knife, glass dissolving chemicals, a military jungle hat, and the vehicle’s original registration number.

The Commissioner of Police for FCT, CP Benneth Igweh, has reaffirmed the Command’s commitment to ensuring the safety and security of FCT residents.
