Ramadan Relief: Kano Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf Distributes 54,600 bags of rice to vulnerable residents

The Governor of Kano State, Abba Kabir Yusuf, has flagged off the distribution of 54,600 bags of rice to support vulnerable residents ahead of and during the holy month of Ramadan.

Speaking at the official launch ceremony in Kano, the governor said the initiative forms part of his administration’s commitment to easing the economic burden on citizens, particularly amid rising food prices and hardship.

Yusuf explained that the rice would be distributed across the 44 local government areas of the state, targeting the less privileged, widows, persons with disabilities, and other vulnerable groups. He noted that Ramadan is a period of sacrifice, compassion, and charity, and urged community leaders to ensure fairness and transparency in the distribution process.

According to him, the intervention reflects the government’s responsibility to cushion the effects of economic challenges and promote social welfare. He also called on wealthy individuals and organisations to complement government efforts by extending support to the needy during the fasting period.

The governor reaffirmed his administration’s resolve to continue implementing people-oriented programmes aimed at improving the living standards of residents across Kano State.
