Sodomite attempts suicide after being caught in Adamawa

The Mayo Belwa Division of Adamawa State Police Command on Thursday, apprehended Kawu Sale, 35, of Tsohon Tike in Mayo Belwa, for defiling a 10-year-old boy.

In a statement signed by the command’s spokesman, SP Suleiman Y. Nguroje, the suspect, who is a neighbour to the victim lured him into his room and forcefully had canal knowledge of him.

The statement explained that the suspect who noticed the invasion of community members to his apartments when the news filtered out attempted to kill himself, but was stopped and is currently receiving treatment in an undisclosed hospital in Yola, the state capital.

The statement reads in part: “The incident was reported to the Divisional Police Headquarters, Mayo Belwa by the victim’s father, Akure Usman, alongside other members of the community.

“Preliminary investigation reveals that on the same date at about 1100hrs, the victim was sighted running out from the room of the suspect. Upon inquiries, the victim narrated what the suspect had done to him.

“Angered by what the accused did, the neighbours immediately headed for the suspect’s room, but when he saw the mob coming, he attempted killing himself by stabbing himself severally on the neck and stomach”.

According to the statement, the state Commissioner of Police, CP SK Akande, has directed detectives from the state CID to take over the investigation and ensure prosecution.

He advised those in the habit of nurturing such evil acts to desist as the command will always ensure the law takes its course.
