Speeding trailer crushes 3 to death in Adamawa

Three persons have been crushed to death by a speeding truck loaded with grains in Adamawa State.

Witnesses said the accident occurred on Monday at the Viniklang Junction, just before the Jimeta Bridge on the way to the city centre, after a trailer loaded with grains sped down the Mubi-Yola Road towards Jimeta Bridge and ran over a pedestrian and two tricycles.

Two of the victims were said to be on a motorcycle, while the third victim was crossing a road when the truck rammed into them.

It was gathered that the articulated vehicle was speeding down the slope of the Bajabure Industrial Complex hill when it crushed the three men at the junction.

According to report, irate youths blocked the highway and threatened to set the truck ablaze.

Security personnel later evacuated the bodies to a hospital in Yola, while trying to calm the situation.
