Vigilantes kill female kidnapper in Kaduna, arrest 12 others

Members of a local vigilante group have gunned down a suspected female kidnapper and arrested 12 others at the Garun Kurama Ward in the Mariri Unit of Lere Local Government Area (LGA) of Kaduna State.

Confirming the incident, a resident who pleaded anonymity revealed that the community has become a hotbed for bandits in recent times.

Daily Trust reports that the vigilantes in collaboration with some youth had raided the kidnappers’ den located at Garun Kurama Ward in Mariri Unit of the LGA on Tuesday.

“It was true that the suspected kidnappers were arrested on Tuesday. We are suffering from their activities in this area,” he said.

Similarly, a vigilante, who spoke on condition of anonymity, said the female suspect was killed during the raid around 3 pm.

“We arrested 13 kidnappers, from their hideout with the community youths. We destroyed the camp and one female suspect was killed on the spot,” he said.

According to him, those arrested were handed over to the police.

But when contacted the Police Public Relations Officer in the state, DSP Mohammed Jalige, said investigations are ongoing into the incident.
