Residents of Dawasa, Kukuri and Chukuriwa of Nangere local government area of Yobe State have commended Governor Mai Mala Buni over the construction of 16km link roads within the three communities, saying it will enhance economic growth of the areas.

The residents gave the commendations on Tuesday when a group of journalists, led by the Chairman of Nigeria Union of Journalists, Yobe state chapter, Comrade Rajab Ismael, visited the communities on a media tour project.

Speaking to journalists in Chukuriwa, the village head of the community, Alhaji Lawan Mohammed, commended Governor Buni for the giant strides.

“Buni has done everything for us, especially for the construction of this particular road that links our community to our neighbourhood that we have been demanding for a long period of time,” said the Chukuriwa village head.

Earlier, the media team visited 18km Karasuwa-Garinguna road project constructed in Karasuwa local government area which was already completed, and Chumbusko-Tagali, an ongoing 10km road which was nearing completion in Bade local government area of the state.

While at Tagali, the Wakili of the Community, Malam Kakdu Kafayo, commended Governor Buni for the road project, saying the 10km road by the government came as a result of flooding that occured in 2022 at the community when Governor Buni paid them a sympathy visit and found out that the community road is not accessible.

The media tour team also visited ongoing construction of 22.5km Fika -Maluri road in Fika local government area of the state.

At the Fika-Maluri project site, the vice chairman, Fika local government, Ahmed Abubakar, said the road project is one of the projects being jubilated over by the entire citizens of Fika and Maluri and it’s a legacy to be left behind by the present administration in the state.

“Fika-Maluri road project has linked about five wards and it would also take people up to the neighbouring local governments of Gujba and Gulani in the state.

On his remarks after the project tour, Yobe state NUJ Chairman, Comrade Rajab Mohammed, commended the effort of Governor Buni for the construction of all the roads at the visited communities, which according to him has brought dividends of democracy to the doors of Yobe people.

“We went round all the communities and see the level of road being constructed under the leadership of Governor Mai Mala Buni through the Commissioner, Ministry of Works, Engineer Umar Wakili Duddaye.

“The projects are no compromise, that means the work there is perfect and what is expected from the general public,” said Comrade Rajab.
