Yobe Govt sets July 19 as non-working day to mark Islamic New Year

The Yobe State Government has officially declared Wednesday, July 19, as a non-working day in celebration of the Islamic New Year.

In a press release issued on Tuesday by the State Head of Civil Service, Garba Bilal, it was announced that July 19, 2023, marks the first day of Muharram 1445 in the new Islamic calendar.

The statement expressed hope that the public holiday would provide an opportunity for people to pray for peace and a bountiful harvest.

“It is hoped that the public holiday will afford people the opportunity to pray for peace and a bumper harvest,” the statement said.

The release also reminded civil servants in the state that they are expected to resume work on Thursday, July 20, 2023, after the break.
