Yobe State University SUG visits Neptune Prime, honours Tumsah for youth empowerment
The Student Union Government (SUG) of Yobe State University, led by its President, Yunusa Abdullahi Barde, has paid a solidarity visit to the CEO of Neptune Prime, Dr. Hassan Gimba, in recognition of his contributions to youth and community development in Yobe State.
During the visit, the student leaders emphasised that their mission was to officially engage with Neptune Prime, which they described as one of the leading digital media platforms in Northern Nigeria.
They also sought mentorship from Dr. Gimba and explored opportunities for collaboration in amplifying student voices, promoting educational programs, and supporting youth leadership initiatives across the state.
As part of the visit, the union presented an award of appreciation to Hon. Kashim Musa Tumsah (MFR) for his generous contributions and unwavering commitment to student welfare and development.
Responding, Dr Gimba accepted to be present as a speaker at their TEDx event and pledged unwavering support to programmes designed to empower students and nurture them into well-rounded individuals prepared to make meaningful contributions to society.

The delegation praised Tumsah’s philanthropy and numerous interventions, which they said brought hope and meaningful change to many students in Yobe State.
Dr. Hassan Gimba expressed gratitude for the visit and commended the students for their initiative and sense of purpose. He encouraged them to remain honest, prioritise student welfare, and uphold the values of positive leadership.

The SUG also acknowledged the vital role of the Yobe First Movement, particularly in tackling water scarcity on campus.

They highlighted the group’s intervention in rehabilitating a university borehole and converting it to a solar-powered facility, which has significantly improved students’ access to clean water.
In a bid to nurture young talent, the CEO of Neptune Prime has gifted two students from the Yobe State University a free internship and training as “Student Reporters”, tasking them to report on developments within the university.
