Youths in Zaria protest coach’s unlawful detention by Police

The Zaria Area Command of the Nigerian Police Force has come under scrutiny for the arrest of Adamu Sa’idu, a resident of Anguwan Liman, Zaria City.

Sa’idu, who is a diabetic and currently undergoing treatment for malaria, was detained without a court order or clear explanation for his arrest.

The Zazzau Youths Forum (ZAYOFO), represented by Secretary General Ibrahim Ibn Muhammad MNIM, has condemned this action, highlighting a troubling pattern of arbitrary detentions and intimidation faced by Zaria’s youth over the past four years.

The forum asserts that such practices undermine the rule of law and demand that Sa’idu be either formally charged or released immediately.

The ZAYOFO calls for a thorough investigation into the matter and seeks justice to ensure that such violations of legal rights are addressed. The statement has been forwarded to various authorities, including the Police Service Commission, the Inspector General of Police, and the Governor of Kaduna State, as well as human rights groups and social media activists, urging them to take action.
