13 Nigerian returnees from Togo arrive Seme border

The Comptroller-General of the Nigeria Immigration Service, Muhammad Babandede, has said 13 Nigerian returnees have been received by the NIS at the Seme border.

He added that the Nigerians were technicians that went to install industrial machines in Togo.

According to a statement, yesterday by the NIS Public Relations Officer, Mr Sunday James, the immigration boss said the 13 returnees had been handed over to officials of the Ministry of Health in Lagos.

James said, “The Nigeria Immigration Service received 13 Nigerian returnees; they are technicians that went to install industrial machines in Togo.

“The 13 returnees have been handed over to officials of the Ministry of Health in Lagos for the medical test, isolation in line with the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) directives on medical procedures for new arrivals into the country to curtail the spread of coronavirus (COVID-19).

“Seme-Krake is a major entry-exit point into and out of Nigeria, bordering the Benin Republic, the NIS is not taking chance in enforcing strict border patrol along the flanks to apprehended anyone that will want to circumvent the approved routes, hence the numbers that have been turning up through the Seme- Krake border post since the border closure.

“The Comptroller General of Nigeria Immigration Service, Muhammad Babandede, is advising the returnees to avoid following bush paths to avoid arrest amidst the painful experience of suffering in the hands of criminal elements in an effort to follow unrecognised routes risking their life.”
