50-year-old man brutally rapes, kills 11-year-old neighbour

A man has been arraigned in court for the sexual assault and murder of a minor.
The suspect was accused of raping the girl after luring her under the guise of sending her on an errand.
The suspect was arrested and charged to court with assault and murder.
The young girl has been laid to rest after the brutal rape and subsequent murder at the hands of her 50-year-old neighbour.
According to reports, the minor, identified as Boitumelo Ranyamatsane, an 11-year-old girl, was assaulted by the suspect identified as Dingani Mbhele.
According to an advocacy group, the incident, which happened in Free State, South Africa created tension in the area, after the little girl was found lifeless on the railway tracks.
Confirming the incident on Tuesday, a journalist alleged that the suspect deceived the girl, under the guise of sending her to buy him cigarettes.

“It is alleged that Boitumelo was raped and murdered by her neighbour, 50, who was arrested after her body was discovered,” the group said in a statement.
“The neighbour allegedly strangled and brutally killed Boitumelo, as she was found with an open wound on her neck.
“We are heartbroken over the loss of such a beautiful soul, and our thoughts are with her family. Fly high, little sister,” the statement added.
The suspect was subsequently arrested and paraded before the Bethlehem Magistrate Court on Thursday, 02 January 2025, with a count of murder, amongst others.
