Ministerial nominee revived after collapsing during Senate screening

A ministerial nominee from Kaduna State, Balarabe Abbas Lawal, who was at a Senate screening on Wednesday, reportedly slumped and had to be revived.

Lawal had been speaking for 15 minutes when he suddenly fell to the floor.

Medical personnel were called into the chamber to revive him.

A source in the Senate, quoted by Channels Television, said that the nominee was exhausted.

The Senate subsequently went into a closed-door session while efforts were being made to revive Lawal. He was eventually taken out of the Senate chamber in an ambulance.

The screening later resumed with the third nominee, Ayodele Olawande from Ondo State.
