Retired general’s killers apprehended, paraded in Abuja

The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) police command, on Monday, paraded killers of General Uwem Udukwere (rtd) in Abuja.

It was reported that the retired army general was tragically killed by suspected armed robbers during a break-in at his home in Sunshine Estate, Abuja, in the early hours of Saturday.

The FCT Police Commissioner, CP Benneth Igweh, displayed the suspects at the Abuja Command, stating that two of the robbers are still on the run, having absconded with the deceased’s pistol.

The individuals identified as Ibrahim Rabiu, Nafiu Jamil, Aliyu Abdullahi, and Mohammed Nuhu are all residents of Apo in Abuja.

CP Igweh explained that the arrests were made possible due to the diligent work of FCT police operatives based on credible information, spearheaded by CSP Victor Godfrey from Utako division who tracked down the suspects.

The suspects admitted to their involvement in the crime, revealing that they resorted to using a knife to attack the late brigadier general when he resisted them during the robbery attempt.

The knife used by the suspects was seized as evidence, alongside the victim’s phone found in their possession.

Efforts are in place to track down the two remaining robbers and retrieve the stolen pistol belonging to the army general, as confirmed by CP Igweh.

The suspects will be charged to court once the investigation is concluded, and the police are committed to ensuring justice is served for General Udukwere.
