UK-based Nigerian videographer finds girlfriend at singles event

A UK-based Nigerian videographer has shared his heartbreak after discovering his girlfriend participating in a singles matchmaking event where she falsely claimed to have been single for the past two years.

According to him, he was hired to cover the event, organized by a popular UK TikTok matchmaking group. Despite arriving late due to multiple train cancellations, he made it in time to film the opening introductions only to be stunned by the sight of his girlfriend among the attendees.

During the introductory segment, participants were asked to state their name, city, and how long they had been single. To his disbelief, his girlfriend claimed she hadn’t been in a relationship since leaving Nigeria and had remained single for the two years she’s lived in the UK.

This contradicted the reality of their relationship, which began on May 18, just two months earlier.

“I was shocked,” he recounted. “I couldn’t believe what I was hearing.”Choosing professionalism over confrontation, he quietly continued recording.

However, his pain deepened when she participated in a live matchmaking round and successfully paired with another man.

He watched in silence as she left the venue with her new match.Later that evening, she texted him completely unaware he had witnessed the entire event claiming she’d been unwell and indoors all day.

The devastated videographer shared his story online, expressing the depth of his heartbreak, especially given how serious their relationship had become in such a short time.

The two were scheduled to go on Umrah in December, a spiritual trip he had already paid for. His family had also established ties with hers — his mother had visited her family in Lagos twice, and his sister had sent her gifts for the Ileya celebration.

“I love her, I can’t even deny that,” he wrote. “I’m hurt badly, so badly. What should I do? How do I handle this?”His emotional confession has since stirred conversations online about trust, betrayal, and the complexities of modern relationships.
