ITN token card distribution ongoing in Jakusko — HPO
The Health Promotion Officer (HPO) of Jakusko Local Government Area has disclosed that teams from the council are currently in the field distributing Insecticide Treated Net (ITN) token cards across communities.
Speaking in an interview with Neptune Prime Newspaper, represented by the Jakusko LGA Technical Assistant (T.A), Saleh Isa Farsawa, the HPO explained that the teams are moving from house to house to deliver the token cards to residents. He said each household is being numbered to ensure accurate data collection and proper record-keeping.
According to him, whether a household is large with many occupants or a single apartment occupied by a bachelor, everyone is entitled to receive an ITN token card. He emphasized that all eligible children must also be captured in the ongoing exercise, which has now reached its third round.

The HPO further noted that the exercise is well-organized, with the presence of crowd control officers who maintain order and recorders who document all beneficiary details with precision. “We are currently covering Jammel town and Buduwa communities to ensure no area is left out,” he said.
He reaffirmed his commitment to working closely with the local government team to ensure all wards within Jakusko LGA are covered effectively.
The ITN token card distribution is sponsored by the National Primary Health Care Development Agency (NPHCDA), the Yobe State Primary Health Care Management Board, and other partners. It is part of the global malaria eradication initiative in collaboration with ITN Malaria, the Global Fund, Catholic Relief Services (CRS), and the Malaria Consortium.

The programme aims to reduce maternal and infant mortality rates caused by malaria and to promote healthier communities across Yobe State.
