Former Petroleum Minister Diezani faces London court over alleged £100,000 bribery case

Former Nigerian Minister of Petroleum Resources, Diezani Alison-Madueke, has appeared before a London court over allegations linked to a £100,000 bribery scheme.

Court proceedings revealed that the case centres on claims that the former minister received the funds as part of a corrupt arrangement while she was in public office. Prosecutors alleged that the money was connected to decisions taken during her tenure as petroleum minister, though Diezani has denied any wrongdoing.

The hearing forms part of a broader investigation by UK authorities into suspected corruption and illicit financial flows involving politically exposed persons. The case is being handled under the UK’s anti-corruption and proceeds of crime laws.

Diezani, who has been facing multiple corruption-related allegations in different jurisdictions for several years, was represented by legal counsel at the court session. The matter was adjourned to a later date to allow for further proceedings.
