A coalition of persons with disabilities from Yobe South Senatorial District (Zone B) convened at the Best Centre in Potiskum, Yobe State, on Thursday to offer prayers for the quick and permanent recovery of Dr Hassan Gimba Ahmed, a philanthropist and the Publisher/CEO of Neptune Prime Newspaper.

Dr Gimba was recently hospitalised but is said to be recovering well. However, he still needs the prayers of loved ones and well-wishers.

One of the well-wishers, Hussaini Abdullahi Yahaya told Neptune Prime correspondent in Yobe that the group gathered to pray for their mentor, asking Almighty Allah to grant him a speedy recovery due to his illness.

He noted that Dr Gimba had sponsored over 200 persons with disabilities and able-bodied people in the zone to learn skills acquisition, enabling them to become self-reliant and reducing their dependence on begging or government assistance.

“Dr Gimba has assisted a lot of people, and we are proud of him. Many of us have benefited from the Dr Hassan Gimba Foundation, and now we are self-reliant. May Almighty Allah (SWT) continue to grant him good health,” Yahaya said.

He added, “We have learned so many things from him. We men have acquired skills such as building, computer repair, tailoring, carpentry, and cosmetology.”

Binta Idris Jaji, also a student at the Best Centre, said, “Dr Hassan Gimba Ahmed recognised us as human beings.

He encouraged us because ‘disability is not failure.’ He enrolled us in this school to become self-reliant, and we have taken this programme very seriously.”

“As women, we have learned many things, including making bags of all sizes, fashion design, homemade creams, computer skills, and earring making,” she said.

“We pray that Almighty Allah (SWT) grants him health and protects him and his family from harm. Dr Hassan Gimba has made our lives truly meaningful. We should continue praying for his quick recovery at all times.”
