Yobe State Governor Hon. Mai Mala Buni has assented to the 2021 Appropriation and Finance Bills into law as passed by the Yobe State House of Assembly.
Speaking at the occasion in Damaturu, Mala-Buni expressed his appreciation to the House for the accelerated passage of the budget which was presented to it on Nov 12.
He also commended the legislature for amending the budget sum from over N106.9 billion to over N106.8 billion in view of the present economic realities and the projected funds to be approved to the state coffers.
The governor assured of his readiness for an improved working relationship between the Executives and the legislature for optimum service delivery to the people.
He said the government would explore the state comparative advantage in agriculture to generate income and provide food security and employment opportunities.
Earlier, the Speaker, Yobe House of Assembly, Alhaji Ahmed Lawan-Mirwa, said the assembly had slashed the total budget amount by over 100 million.
He commended the governor for prioritizing completion of ongoing projects in the budget rather than embarking on new once.
Lawan-Mirwa charged all stakeholders to ensure fiscal discipline and strictly adhere to budgetary provisions during expenditure.
