Thousands of Zaria residents rendered homeless by Kaduna State Gov’t
Story from Saleh INUWA, Kano
About ten thousand families or more have been rendered homeless by the Kaduna State Government in Zaria when the state government carried out its threat by demolishing thousands of houses behind the Zaria College of Aviation Technology.
Sources told Neptune Prime’s correspondent that the land in question belongs to the Federal Ministry of Aviation, and there is no agreement that it has leased out or sold the land to the Kaduna State government. But agents of Kaduna State government, two days ago, demolished the houses of all those occupying the aviation land when the quit notice which was given to them had expired.
Though the affected parties tried to resist the demolition exercise, the state government dispatched Military and Police in large numbers, which overpowered the protesters, and they succeeded in demolishing over ten thousand houses, while over two hundred thousand households lost their houses, vehicles, properties, money, and other valuables because the demolition was done in the night.
At the time of filing dis report, the Governor had given notice to six hundred and sixty families at Hayin Danmani, to move or he would demolish their houses and ask them to pay for the labour for demolition.
