Adamawa Chief of Staff, Prof. Gidado bags traditional title as Dan Masanin Ganye II

Professor Maxwell M. Gidado, the current Chief of Staff to the Adamawa State Government has been honoured with Dan Masanin Ganye II traditional chieftaincy title by the Gangwari II, Dr Umaru Adamu Sanda OON, FIAM of the Ganye emirates in Adamawa state.

The turbanning ceremony is scheduled to take place on Saturday, 27th of November, 2021 at the Gangwari Ganye’s palace in Ganye Local Government Area of Adamawa state.

Professor Maxwell M. Gidado is a Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN) and a legal luminary who has held an appointment as one of the most Senior Lecturers at the University of Maiduguri, Borno State.

At 23 years of age, he obtained a law degree LL. B (Hons) from the University of Maiduguri in 1983. He earned a Masters’ of law degree LL.M and Doctoral (PhD) degree in law all from Warwick University in England, the United Kingdom in 1987 and 1992 respectively.

Subsequently, he performed his mandatory one year National Youth Service Corps scheme (NYSC) at  A.D Arulogun & Co Chambers, a law firm in Port Harcourt, the Rivers State capital in 1984. In 1995 he was appointed Commissioner for Justice and Attorney General of Adamawa State. He also got an appointment in 1999 as Senior Special Assistant to the President and Commander- In- Chief of the Armed Forces, President Olusegun Obasanjo on legal and constitutional matters.

In 2003, he was called to perform the same duty in the office of the Vice President of Nigeria. Professor Gidado was also a secretary to the Constitutional Review Committee. Thereafter, he served as an Assistant Director (Academic) at Nigeria’s Advanced Legal Education, Nigeria Law School Bwari, Abuja from January 1999 to June 1999.

He became the Special Assistant to the Chairman, Constitutional Debate Coordinating Committee in 1998. Professor Gidado became Dean Faculty of Law Nasarawa State University and an adjunct Lecturer at American- Abti University of Nigeria Yola, Adamawa state.

Twice he has been appointed as Chief of Staff to Governor Ahmadu Fintiri of Adamawa state.

Born in Sugu, Ganye Local Government Area, the erudite Professor of Law has been honoured with many traditional titles across Nigeria such as Garkuwa Sugu, (his home town).

Recognised also for his philanthropic gestures to people of different ethnic nationalities, on December 29th, 2004 during the great Ofala Festival he was bestowed with Ikemba -1 of Ifite Ogwari, in Anambra State Eastern Nigeria. While the good people of Abia state awarded him with “Nwanne Di Na MBA -1 (A brother from the town) of Ihiala Isulu Autonomous Community in Abia state of Eastern Nigeria.

Politically, he aspired to campaign for a seat in the 9th Senate for Adamawa South Senatorial District in 2019. However, he was persuaded to step down for the now incumbent senator.

Professor Maxwell M. Gidado is married to Mrs Rose Maxwell Gidado (PhD). Presently, Prof. Gidado holds the National Honour of Officer of the Federal Republic of Equatorial Guinea in the Central Africa Region. He has been identified severally as a bridge that has connected many Nigerians across several social strata.
