Abimbola Oyeyemi, Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) of the state, who confirmed their arrest said that the suspects, “killed Sofiat, cut her head, packed the headless body in a sack and started burning the head in a pot. They told the police in the presence of a mammoth crowd that they wanted to use it for money ritual.”

Reacting to the death of Sofiat, her sister, Musinatu Okeowo in an interview with the PUNCH said she came to her house to wash their clothes and cooked beans till evening when she (Sofiat) told her she wanted to visit someone although, she didn’t mention the name but told her siblings that the hosts said she should come alone.

According to her, Sofiat, before her death has been dating Alfa Mustekeen about a year ago but their mother did not approve of her relationship with Alfa.

She said, “Our mother said she should stop dating Alfa Mustekeen who attended the same Islamic school together with Sofiat. What baffled me most was that it was this same Alfa that killed my sister.”

“We cannot tell our mother because she is hypertensive so that we would not have two corpses if she get to know that Sofiat is dead. I got to know of her death on the second day.”

She said all she wanted is justice for her late sister, according to her, the killers should be killed the same way Sofiat was killed.

The younger brother of her mother who was in mournful mood said he carried Rofia’s mother to Ifo from Abeokuta to avoid another tragedy. He said he wanted the government to treat the boys the same way Sofiat was killed.

The arrested teenagers were identified as 17-year-old Wariz Oladeinde from Kugba, 19-year-old Abdulgafar Lukman from Kugba and Mustakeem Balogun from Bode Olude, all in Abeokuta.
