Day Of The Girl Child: Gov. Ganduje temporarily hands over power to 14-year-old girl in Kano

Kano State Governor, Dr Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, on Monday temporarily handed over power to a 14-year-old girl, Atika Abubakar Yankaba, as part of activities marking the 2021 International Day of the Girl Child (IDGC).

The 14-year-old was mandated to serve as acting Governor for one hour, and she anticipated making policy pronouncements.

The epic ceremony tagged “Girls Take Over Governance” was facilitated by UNICEF in concert with Donor partners, Civil Society Groups in the state.
