Police arrest two women for child trafficking in Adamawa
The Adamawa State Police Command has arrested two women over alleged child trafficking and rescued three teenage girls in Yola.
The Command’s spokesperson, SP Suleiman Nguroje, disclosed the development in a statement issued on Wednesday. He said operatives of the State Intelligence Department (SID), acting on credible intelligence, intercepted the minors at Adamawa Sunshine Motor Park on February 17, 2026.
“On 17th February, 2026, operatives of the Command attached to the State Intelligence Department (SID), acting on credible intelligence, intercepted three teenagers at Adamawa Sunshine Motor Park. The teenagers were identified as Naomi Linus (14), Agnes Thomas (16), and Patience Justine (15),” Nguroje stated.
According to him, preliminary investigations revealed that the girls were lured to Yola under false promises of employment and were being prepared for transportation to Abuja for alleged menial domestic work.

The police identified the suspects as Hasiya Yuguda, 35, of the NEPA area in Jimeta, Yola North, and Ummulkhairi Abubakar, 40, of Wuro-Hausa in Yola South.
Nguroje further disclosed that another suspect, Simon Boniface, 38, from Bitakoyali in Zing Local Government Area of Taraba State, has also been implicated and is currently assisting the police with ongoing investigations.
The rescued teenagers are presently in protective custody, while efforts are underway to reunite them with their families.
Meanwhile, the Commissioner of Police, Morris Dankwambo, reaffirmed the Command’s zero-tolerance stance on child trafficking and abuse. He urged members of the public to promptly report suspicious movements or activities involving minors to the nearest police station.

The incident comes months after the Adamawa State Government reunited previously trafficked children with their families and cautioned parents against allowing minors to travel without proper supervision.
