According to the statement, Gov. Buni gave the assurance when the United Nations country representatives to Nigeria and ECOWAS, Beatrice Eyong, paid him a courtesy visit.

The Governor said the state has two women members of the House of Representatives, Commissioners and Permanent Secretaries.

“We will also have women councillors in the forthcoming local council election and supervisory councillors,” he said.

Buni assured the organisation of government’s support and cooperation for the smooth execution of its programmes to improve the lives of women in the state.

Earlier, Eyong said the UN Women has introduced some programmes in the state aimed at improving the socio-economic lives of the people.

She said the programme would also introduce biogas fuel for women in the state for healthy cooking and to check deforestation.
