Kano State Government has shut 12 boarding secondary schools in the outskirt of the state over the increasing security challenges and abduction of students.
The State Commissioner for Education, Muhammad Sanusi Kiru announced this on Friday, noting that the state government after considering the security situations in some neighbouring states deemed it fit to be proactive by closing down some of the schools.

It could be recalled that bandits on Friday abducted over 300 female students from a secondary school, Jangebe, Talata Mafara, Zamfara State, barely two weeks after Government Science College Kagara was attacked and more than 40 staff and students abducted.
He said the schools include Ajingi, girls secondary school at Sumaila, Girls secondary school Jogana, girls secondary school Gezawa, Govt Secondary school Kafin Maiyaki (Male), Maitama Sule secondary school Gaya, Girls secondary school Kachako, Girls secondary school in Kunchi, Unity College Karaye and Girls Arabic College Albasu, Girls secondary schools Tudun Wada and Danzabuwa.
He appealed to parents to immediately proceed to the school to pick their children.
The Commissioner added that the reopening of the school’s would be announced later.
