Man dies after fight with rival at girlfriend’s house

A 36-year-old man, Emmanuel Somiah, has died following a fight with a rival at his girlfriend’s residence in Mpasatia, Atwima Mponua District. The incident occurred on Saturday, August 23, 2025.

According to witnesses, Somiah went to his girlfriend Cynthia Nyarko’s home around 5 p.m. to get some of his belongings. While there, he ran into another man, known only as Jeff, who had also come to visit Nyarko.

The encounter quickly turned into a fight. “We heard shouting and struggling inside the house, then silence,” a resident said. “When I went in, Emmanuel was lying on the floor, unresponsive. Cynthia said she didn’t know what had happened.”

Somiah was taken by tricycle to a nearby health center but was pronounced dead on arrival.

Police have detained Nyarko for questioning and have launched a search for Jeff, who fled the scene. The Atwima Mponua District Police Command stated that a full investigation is underway to determine the exact circumstances of the fatal confrontation.
