Man in Niger kills self with sniper after being defrauded

A young man, Mustapha Yakubu, committed suicide after consuming a poisonous substance suspected to be sniper insecticide at Angwan Gwari Kwamba in Suleja Local Government Area (LGA) of Niger State.

Yakubu died in his room and an empty bottle of sniper and a suicide note were found in the room.

According to Daily Trust, a neighbour, Jegede Badmus, showed the suicide note via his phone, which reads: “Sorry. I end am like this.”

Badmus said Yakubu’s relatives evacuated his remains for burial according to Islamic rites.

He further said, “We were all shocked when we discovered what happened because he was good to everyone. I wonder what could have been the reason for his action. Someone that was just starting life. He’s not even up to 30 years.

“As soon as the discovery was made, his relatives here in Suleja came around and took his body for burial. It was very obvious it was a suicide case.”

A resident, who didn’t want his name to be mentioned, said the deceased was recently defrauded.
