Man in Zaria arranges kidnap of cousin, demands N30 million ransom

Story from Saleh INUWA, Kano

The Kaduna State Police Command has arrested a man, Abubakar Aliyu, for arranging to have his cousin kidnapped because he was owing her the sum of N1.3 million.

Abubakar, 35, told the security agencies that since he had no means of repaying the debt, he decided to arrange with kidnappers to abduct her and demand the payment of N30 million for ransom.

His cousin who was so smart escaped from the kidnappers and alerted the security authorities over this incident. She told them that it was her cousin who owes her the sum of N1.3 million that arranged with the kidnappers to kidnap her and this was confirmed to her by the bandits.

When the security asked Abubakar Aliyu the whereabouts of the lady, he told them that the initial arrangement was for the kidnappers to take him and the lady into the bush and demand N30 million.

“I did not arrange with the kidnappers to kill her, or kill me, all we arranged with them was to pick us up, take us to the bush and demand for the 30 million. Whatever was negotiated later, I am going to share it with them, but she escaped and now, I don’t know where she is, but one thing is sure, she is still very much alive”, he said.
