Many feared dead as devastating explosion rocks Abuja (Video)
Many people are feared dead following a tanker explosion at Karu bridge, a suburban district of Abuja.
Neptune Prime gathered that many cars were trapped in the incident with their occupants unable to escape.
The tragic incident occurred on Wednesday evening around 7:20 pm. while people were returning home from work.
Though the number of casualties is not yet certain, eyewitnesses said a lot of cars with people inside went up in flames.
An eyewitness, Mr Umar, who witnessed the accident while coming back from work said several cars exploded after colliding with a fuel-laden tanker under the Karu bridge which links to Nyanya settlement and the busy Mararaba axis along the Abuja-Keffi Expressway.
Eyewitnesses said at least seven bodies have been recovered so far, while emergency responders continue rescue operations.
Personnel from the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) and other security agencies have since arrived at the scene, working to contain the situation.
