Nigeria: Largest exporter of human eggs, embryos without consent – Study shows
According to Dr Philip Njemanze, the Chairman of African Anti-abortion Coalition and the Chairman of Association of General and Private Medical Practitioners of Nigeria in Imo State, Nigeria has been exporting human eggs and embryos without consent since 2006, making it the highest exporter in the international market.
Njemanze made this revelation during the annual Catholic Marriage, Family and Human Life Unit and Marriage Instructors Conference held at Yaba, Lagos State.

He further explained that a study had shown that Nigeria was trafficking in eggs without the knowledge or consent of the women involved.
Njemanze warned that if this practice continues, about 100 million eggs would be needed annually to supply laboratories for stem cell embryonic research.
