NYSC denies report on ₦70,000 minimum wage for corps members
The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) has officially refuted circulating reports on social media claiming that corps members’ bank accounts are being upgraded to accommodate a new minimum wage of ₦70,000.
In a statement issued by Eddy Megwa, the Director of Information and Public Relations at NYSC, the scheme has labelled these reports as entirely false.
According to the NYSC, there has been no directive from the relevant authorities regarding an increase in the minimum wage for corps members or any related account upgrades. The statement emphasized that “this is absolute falsehood which is far from the truth,” and clarified that the NYSC has not received any such directives from government wage authorities.

The NYSC urged corps members, their families, and the general public to disregard the misleading reports. The organisation highlighted that corps members are familiar with the approved channels for communication within the scheme and should not be swayed by misinformation.
Furthermore, the NYSC warned bloggers and social media influencers to cease issuing unauthorised statements regarding the management of the corps. The statement concluded by advising corps members to remain vigilant against misinformation and to rely only on official sources for accurate information.
